Resurrection Cookies & Easter Scripture Eggs}Activity Day Idea

Resurrection Cookies

I realize Easter is just a few days away and this post may be a little late for some of you but maybe you can pin it for next year! This activity would be a fun thing to do as a family this weekend, Saturday night, the night before Easter.  We did it with our Activity Day girls this week and they really enjoyed it.  Especially eating the cookies. The process of making Resurrection cookies is a wonderful way to share the Easter story.  Each step and ingredient of [Continue Reading…]

Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

_DSC0887

For Activity Day Girls this week we dyed Easter eggs except we didn’t use store bought dye.  A few years ago I experimented with natural dyes using fruits, vegetables and spices.  I loved the results and the beautiful muted colors you got.  I decided it would be a fun science experiment for the girls to do it too.  It was so fun to see what colors certain fruits and vegetables would result in. The prep work for this is a little bit more intense than picking up a pack of [Continue Reading…]

One of my favorite holidays in the spring is Easter. I love everything about Easter: the reason we celebrate, the spring flowers, the pretty dyed Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks, all the pretty pastel colors, a new Easter outfit (yes, I still buy myself a new outfit!!), and [Continue Reading…]

Easter Decor 2013

Easter Decor

Today I am going to give you a quick little tour of my Easter Decor 2013.  Easter snuck up on me a bit.  I realized this weekend that if I was going to decorate for Easter I better do it soon as there were only two weeks before the day.  I think I had my Valentine Decor out for two months – I put it out about a month before and then didn’t get around to taking it down for another month.  Easter is getting a little cheated this year. [Continue Reading…]

Spiced Grilled Ham with Citrus Glaze

Spiced Grilled Ham with Citrus Glaze www.yourhomebasedmom.com

I have always thought of ham as strictly something you serve for Easter. We are big pork fans at our house and my kid’s number one choice for dinner is usually pork tenderloin.  Ham is such an easy meat to prepare.  It basically just needs to be heated through and it is so versatile.  The leftovers can be made into all kinds of fun things so I’m not sure why we don’t eat ham more often. The National Pork Board recently invited me to be one of their Easter Ham [Continue Reading…]

Easter Egg Scriptures

Easter Scripture Eggs

When my children were little the Easter bunny always visited our house on Saturday morning, the day before Easter Sunday.  This was one of our many attempts to help teach our children that Easter is not about the Easter bunny but is about the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ.  We tried to reserve Easter Sunday for showing gratitude for the resurrection. One of our traditions was to share the Easter story by  reading Easter Egg scriptures at the dinner table on Easter Sunday.  We have a set [Continue Reading…]

Easter Decor – 2012

Easter Decor

For Easter this year I incorporated several things I love – grass, eggs and my milk glass collection on my family room mantel.  Milk glass is a recent new love of mine.  I love finding pieces at Goodwill and antique stores.  Not only is it pretty but it is fairly inexpensive.  Because it is white it is also very versatile! It was the perfect addition to my Easter mantel this year.  I filled various pieces with eggs and  Easter grass.  I love being able to incorporate the milk glass into [Continue Reading…]
