Cowboy Cookies

Cowboy Cookies - soft, chewy chocolate chip oatmeal cookie

Today is the first day of school here in the Pacific Northwest.  I realize some of you have been in school for almost in a month but we start late, always the day after Labor Day.  The first day of school means one thing at my house – chocolate chip cookies.  For many years I made chocolate chip cookies on the first day of school to welcome my kids home.  There is nothing better than a warm chocolate chip cookie and a cold glass of milk to welcome them home and get [Continue Reading...]

Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies

My chocolate chip cookie addiction continues. I just can’t help myself.  I find a new chocolate chip cookie recipe and I just have to try.  Could it possibly be better than my favorite chocolate chip cookie? I was browsing through a fun cookbook the other day and found a recipe for a chocolate chip cookie recipe that used cinnamon.  I was intrigued and decided I must try it.  Truth be told I am not a big fan of spice flavored cookies but the addition of cinnamon into a chocolate chip [Continue Reading...]

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have a lot of hobbies, things I like to do.  The list includes, sewing, gardening, reading, scrapbooking, family history, learning French, and I am sure there are a few more. Also on that list is experimenting with chocolate chip cookie recipes.  I love a good chocolate chip cookie and over the years I have tried dozens and dozens of different recipes.  I probably try 2-3 a month.  I always think I am going to find a better, more perfect chocolate chip cookie.  Most of the times I don’t and [Continue Reading...]

Caramel Rice Krispie Bars

I love a good rice krispie treat.  For me a good rice krispie treat is not  too crispy!  I like mine a little softer and a little more gooey than the standard recipe. So I do my treats a little different.  I use a whole bag of marshmallows but instead of just a couple of tablespoons of butter like the recipe usually calls for I add in a 1/2 a cup.  I promise you won’t be sorry! I put it all in a nice big glass container and then heat [Continue Reading...]

Butterscotch Blondies

I’ve got a fun recipe redo for you today.  I was craving these Butterscotch Blondies this week and realized it had been way too long since we had them. One problem with being a food blogger is that you are constantly trying out new recipes.  I know, what a problem to have!  But the problem is you just don’t get a chance to make those old family favorites very often.  Today’s recipe is one of those family favorites and one I shared back in the very early beginnings of my [Continue Reading...]

Raspberry Streusel Bars

Raspberry Streusel Bars

We are in the midst of berry season here in Oregon and I am a happy woman. I am lucky enough to have several U-pick berry farms within a few miles of my home and I’ve been spending some serious time there lately. Strawberries, raspberries, marionberries, boysenberries and next week I’ll be picking blueberries. Pretty lucky aren’t I?! Thanks to those berry farms these Raspberry Streusel Bars made an appearance at my house last week. It was my baby’s 19th birthday and I wanted to send some treats with her [Continue Reading...]

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone it is time to get serious about Christmas.  I got a big chunk of my shopping done on CyperMonday!  How about you? One of my favorite holiday activities is our Annual Cookie Baking Day.  I spend a lot of time coming up with just the right menu of cookies.  Being sure flavors are balanced – can’t have all chocolate cookies.  There is always a list of our favorites like Lemon Drops and Snowballs. Each year I always add a few new recipes to [Continue Reading...]
