That being said I couldn’t resist trying out some new Christmas cookie recipes this week despite the fact that Thanksgiving is still three weeks away. Each Christmas holiday my girls and I along with other various family members and friends get together for a Cookie Baking Day.  We always try out a few  new recipes plus a list of all our family favorites. We are still on a bit of a peppermint kick around our house. My apologies to all those non-peppermint lovers who may be reading this.  But I bet you have a peppermint lover in your life somewhere that would love these peppermint melting moments.   Just think, you could make them for that person and not even be tempted to eat one.  Think about how many calories I am saving you! So when I make sandwich cookies I make them small.  They are almost bite size – really two bites.   That way I can actually eat two of them and not feel [Continue Reading...]

Hot Chocolate Cookies

Sometimes a girl’s just got to have her chocolate. I was having a major chocolate craving the other day when I came across this recipe twice – I took that as a sign. I was working on my holiday cookie baking list and came across the recipe over at Tasty Kitchen and then I saw that my friend Laura at Real Mom Kitchen had posted them too. How could I not give them a try. Someone was sending me a message. I have to admit that usually chocolate is not [Continue Reading...]

Brown Sugar Shortbread Cookies

I think I’ve mentioned before that I tend to get on flavor kicks.  There’s been cranberry, lemon etc. Well, this week it seems to be brown sugar.  I’ve got two brown sugar recipes for you right in a row (another coming tomorrow) Yum! Today’s cookie recipe is a shortbread cookie but is different than a lot of shortbread – it is a nice soft cookie.  I love shortbread, especially with a nice cup of herbal tea.  It makes me feel so English!
