Ooey, Gooey Chocolate Chip And Toffee Bars

Chocolate Chip and Toffee Bars

I’ve just got one word to say about these ooey, gooey chocolate chip and toffee bars. Danger! They are full of chocolate, toffee bits and ooey, gooey goodness.   The ooey gooey part is provided by the sweetened condensed milk which is spread in the middle of the bar. The sweetened condensed milk turns into caramel as it bakes and makes these bars pretty much irresistible!  I only make these if I can going to have company or have to take a treat somewhere or else I would eat the [Continue Reading...]

Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake

Now that all the kid’s are gone back to school I am cleaning out the cupboards and the refrigerators (yes, we have more than one)  I’ve been throwing out the last remaining bits of Christmas candy, cookies etc. but the one thing I can’t bring myself to throw out are the leftover candy canes.  I always end up with leftover candy canes. In my husband’s family, after the holidays were over they would make peppermint ice cream with the left over candy canes.  I love peppermint ice cream. This year [Continue Reading...]

Toffee Brownie Bark

Now that our nest is empty I am not a big Costco shopper.  In fact, Jim is usually the one who makes our Costco runs to stock up on Green Smoothie ingredients and toilet paper once or twice a month. Well, over the holidays I needed to make a trip to Costco and I discovered something pretty amazing.  It was something called Brownie Brittle  Yea, pretty amazing stuff! I put it out at a holiday party in a bowl – it doesn’t look like anything special but let me tell [Continue Reading...]

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

Chocolate Chip Pie www.yourhomebasedmom.com

In honor of Pi Day I am doing a Recipe Redo of one of my favorite pies. (Did you know March 14th was national Pi Day!!??) I originally posted this recipe several years ago.  It is one of those recipes I have been making for over 20 years.  It was first shared with me by one of my Creative Memories customers.  Back in the day, I use to host monthly scrapbooking workshops at my home and I would always fix dinner.  This Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie was one of the [Continue Reading...]

How many of you have a secret pleasure in life?  That jar or carton of something that you keep hidden in the back of the cupboard or the freezer that you hope no one else finds.  Because you don’t want to share! Well,  I have several of them.  There is the bag of Cadbury chocolate eggs in my desk drawer, the carton of Haagen Daaz ice cream in the back of the freezer and then there is also the jar of Nutella hidden in the pantry. Today I decided [Continue Reading...]

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dip and Coton Colors Giveaway

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dip

{Giveaway Closed} I first tasted this chocolate chip cookie dip years ago.  A friend had made it for a party and I remember I totally planted myself next to the bowl and just about refused to share it with anyone else. I am a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate chip ice cream – just about anything with chocolate chips in it!  So of course I was going to love this dip.  This recipe has been hiding in my files for years and when I [Continue Reading...]

Snickerdoodles – and a variation on a theme

snickerdoodles

Several years ago I referred to my snickerdoodle recipe in a post but never posted it.  I continue to get requests for the recipe so I figured it was about time I posted it.  I made them this week and played around with the recipe a bit – some variations on a theme. I have made a lot of snickerdoodles in my time.  I think snickerdoodles are soley responsible for my son Clark and his friends hanging out at our house during high school – they loved my snickerdoodles and [Continue Reading...]

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins}Muffin Monday

banana muffins

Today’s muffin recipe is due to having two overly ripe bananas on my counter. I just wasn’t in the mood for banana bread, although I have an amazing banana bread recipe. But a banana muffin sounded pretty good. I added in some mini chocolate chips and I had an amazing muffin. I tweeked my basic muffin recipe and used a combination of oil and sour cream for the liquid.  (that’s also what makes my banana bread recipe so amazing.)  The oil and sour cream help create a very moist, light [Continue Reading...]

Just a heads up.  My daughter, Totally Tessa, is celebrating her 100th post with a fun giveaway!  It’s really cute and I made it so you might want to check it out.  Besides the fact that she is pretty darn cute and has an amazing sense of style!! Last week as we were cleaning up from dinner my daughter, Totally Tessa, casually mentioned that her Young Women’s group from church were coming over that night (like in 30 minutes) for their weekly activity night.  I went into a little bit [Continue Reading...]
