Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls

Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls

It’s that time of year.  The time of year when I start thinking about cinnamon rolls and experimenting with new cinnamon roll recipes.  It usually happens twice a year.  You see, our church holds a bi-annual General Conference each year that is broadcast around the world on TV in April and in October.  What that basically means is we get to stay home, in our jammies and watch TV for church twice a year.  It also means we get to eat cinnamon rolls.  Cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate are a [Continue Reading…]

Individual Monkey Bread

Individual Monkey Bread @yourhomebasedmom 1

Individual servings of monkey bread are oh so cute and so delicious! Several weeks ago a few of my cute little friends at church asked me when they could come over and cook with me again.  I asked them what they wanted to make and one of them quickly answered Monkey Bread!  I decided it was time for another Kids Can Cook session! I am a fan of monkey bread so I made a date with these two cuties!  Their parents graciously let me borrow them for a Saturday afternoon. I [Continue Reading…]

Gluten Free Biscuits

gluten free biscuits

My daughter, Cali, was home  a few weeks ago.  She is student teaching at a high school and it was their Spring Break. Home is always a little bit more fun and loud when Cali is around!! For the last two years Cali has eaten gluten free, dairy free and red meat free due to allergies and digestive issues.  It is always a bit more of a challenge to cook when Cali is home.  I just have to think more.  While she was home we had fun exploring and checking [Continue Reading…]

7-Up Biscuits

7 Up Biscuits are light, flaky and so delicious!

The secret ingredient in these biscuits makes them light, flaky and delicious! I’m back and ready to share lots of fun recipes I tried out last week while the kids were home.  I cooked a lot and it was so much fun.  My kids like to eat and I love to cook for them. Their last night home I fixed a nice big dinner (so I fixed a nice big dinner every night!) and we enjoyed the perfect Portland weather as we ate on the patio.  I had picked up [Continue Reading…]

Angel Biscuits

angel biscuits

I love a good yeast roll and I also love a good biscuit. I just realized I have never shared my favorite yeast roll recipe.  Too many recipes, too little time! Today’s recipe is for a combination of the two. It has the ease and quickness of a biscuit but it has more of the yeasty, lightness of a yeast roll. My sister in law, Teresa, gave me this recipe years ago (probably like 30)  I have made a few tweeks to the recipe. Angel Biscuits would be a great [Continue Reading…]

The Best Biscuits

Did you know that September was National Biscuit Month!?  Well, it is and in honor of that I am going to share with you an amazing biscuit recipe. You see, I have been on a quest for the BEST biscuit for a while now. I started out looking for the best biscuit in local Portland restaurants and then decided I wanted to be able to recreate them at home. My quest first began back in January of this year when my husband and I had breakfast at the Screen Door. [Continue Reading…]

Red Lobster Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

These Garlic Cheese Biscuits are just like the ones they serve at Red Lobster!I have been out of town the past five days so I needed something quick and easy to share with you today.  Red Lobster’s Garlic Cheese Biscuits are quick, easy and delicious. I have only eaten at Red Lobster once in my life.  I am sure it is a wonderful restaurant but I am just not much of a seafood fan.  But I am a fan of their garlic cheese biscuits. After falling in love with them after [Continue Reading…]

Today’s recipe is for my southern, biscuit loving friend Sherra.  Don’t all good southern girls love biscuits? If you ever visit food blogs you may have discovered a weekly challenge that many of the food bloggers participate in – Tuesdays with Dorie.  The group is, recipe by recipe, baking their way through Baking from my Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan.  Each week a recipe is chosen and each food blogger puts their own spin on it and posts their version and photos on their food blog. I have enjoyed [Continue Reading…]
