Toffee Apple Dip

Apple Dip

Note: Todays post is  a recipe redo with updated photos of one of my favorite fall treats. Last week I opened my front door and found my friend Dawn standing at my door with this darling basket in her hand. A cute little basket filled with all the ingredients to make her yummy Apple Dip. Dawn and I met in the costume shop at the high school where our daughters performed together in various shows.  Dawn is a marvelous seamstress and we have spent a lot of time sewing together over [Continue Reading…]

Cubby’s Apple Pecan Chicken Salad

CUbby's Apple Pecan Chicken Salad

Last week I shared with you one of my favorite salads I get at a Provo, Utah restaurant I visit on my frequent trips there to see my kids.  I fixed it for dinner several times in the last few weeks.  The last time I served it my daughter, Tessa, who is home for a little bit this summer informed me that although she liked the Tri Tip Steak Salad her favorite Cubby’s salad was the “chicken one.” So of course I had to oblige and fix her favorite salad [Continue Reading…]

Back to School Apple Donuts

This year may be the last first day of school that we ever have.  Our baby will start her senior year of college.  We’ve had a lot of first days of school at our house. It’s been about twenty five first days of school if my math is right.  So unless someone decides to go back for a graduate degree (we have two of those already) we may be done with back to school. The first day of school is just not the same when they are off at college and there [Continue Reading…]

French Crumb Apple Pie {Activity Day Idea}

This week was our twice a month Activity Day for the 8-11 year old girls at church.  When I asked them what were some of the things they wanted to learn in Activity Days one of the answers I got from quite of few of them was cook/bake.  So this week we decided to teach them to make pies. We made French Crumb Apple Pie. Teaching 9 girls how to make a pie in one hour is a little overwhelming.  My first word of advice is – get help!  I [Continue Reading…]

Apple Cake with Caramel Cake

This apple cake with caramel sauce is the perfect fall dessert – it tastes like fall. This recipe came from a family cookbook my daughter put together several years ago. It was a compilation of the Best Family’s favorite recipes. The recipe came from my mom and is one she made regularly for her empty nester family home evening group.  I could join that group now! A nice warm apple cake. Now take that nice warm apple cake and cover it in caramel sauce and you have heaven. So there [Continue Reading…]

Apple Strudel Muffins

Apple Strudel Muffins are full of apples and cinnamon chips and then topped with a delicious strudel mixture. They taste just like Fall but are good anytime of year. What is it about Fall that just says apples, cinnamon and nutmeg? When I asked for muffin recipes on my very first Muffin Monday post, Cheryl graciously sent me the link to this recipe that is on her blog.  She has a food blog that she does with her three sisters and her mother – how fun is that.  The recipe [Continue Reading…]

Sour Cream Apple Bars

apple bars

I’ve been in a bar cookie testing mode lately.  I have an upcoming event that I am in charge of the refreshments for and I need four sweet treats and four savory treats.  Quite a few recipes and calories later I think I about have the menu figured out.  Today’s recipe for Sour Cream Apple Bars may be my favorite sweet treat on the menu. Fall is in the air here in the Pacific NW (as well as the rain) so  something with cinnamon and apples sounded perfect.  This recipe [Continue Reading…]
