How to Make Taco Bake
One of my favorite parts of Taco Bake is the crust. It is more like bread than a tortilla. There are crushed up tortilla chips in the crust for some nice crunch and texture.
- Combine flour, yeast, sugar, onion and salt and mix well.
- Add warm water (110-115 degrees) and oil to flour mixture
- Mix by hand until almost smooth.
- Stir in chips and enough flour to make a stiff batter.
- Spread in a greased 9-10 inch pie pan or 8 x 8 inch baking dish and form a rim
- Cover and let rise for about 10 minutes.
- Cook hamburger with minced onion, until meat is cooked through. Drain off any fat.
- Add in taco seasoning and a few tablespoons of water. Stir to combine and allow to simmer for a few minutes.
- Add meat mixture to crust after it has risen for 10 minutes.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 30- 35 minutes.
- Once the crust has turned golden brown, remove from the oven and to with your favorite taco toppings.
Serve this with:
- Black Beans
- Refried Beans
- Mexican Rice
- Mexican Caesar Salad
- Roasted Corn Salad

Yummmmm …
Got home tonight from picking up kids at 5:30. Thought, “What’s for dinner?” Remembered this recipe. Went to my computer and pulled it up. And … dinner was on the table in an hour. Amazing!
It was a HIT with the whole family.
My variations:
Doubled the recipe and used an 11×15 casserole dish.
Used Corn Chips instead of Tortilla Chips.
Used Chopped Onions with the Meat instead of the dried onion in the crust.
Added the Cheese to the last 5 minutes of cooking time.
Topped with Lettuce, Tomato, Black Beans, Olives, Sour Cream, and Salsa.
Delicious! Thanks!

This looks so yummy! Tacos are one of my go-to meals, too, but sometimes it’s nice to change things up. This one’s definitely getting tried out this weekend. Love that the crust only has to rise for 10 minutes and, hey, anything with corn chips in it’s gotta be good!

I am not a cook so it has to look delicious and easy for me to even print it out! This one is printed and the ingredients already on my grocery list. Thanks, Leigh Anne!!
