I don’t know about you but just about every January I get that bug – that redo, revamp, reorganizational bug and I always seem to start with my closet! I’m usually pretty tired of my clothes about this time of year and feeling like I need a little redo myself! Ever feel like that?
Well, lucky for me my friend Karen, a personal stylist, was there to help out! A personal stylist is someone who helps you look your best.
Karen spends time listening to you and getting to know you, your lifestyle and the various roles you play. (This didn’t take long for us because we’ve known each other for years.) Next, Karen spent one on one time with me talking about my body type and shape and how I can emphasis my assets and hide my defects. She helps you discover what looks best on your body just the way it is. She can even help you figure out what colors look best on you.
After helping me learn my style we moved onto the closet, yes the dreaded closet!! I must admit I spent a little time the day before she came over cleaning it up a bit!!
Karen doesn’t expect you to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, in fact her main goal is to help you learn how to shop your closet. This is the part I loved. She went through my closet with me and we focused in on some of the things I never wear. Usually the reason was that I didn’t know what to wear with it. Karen helped me shop my own closet by coming up with some fun new ways to combine clothes I already had. Karen teaches that you don’t need to get rid of everything in your closet and you don’t have to spend a fortune to look good. I had a whole new wardrobe without going shopping! My husband loved that part!!
Karen recently did a great article where she shows you exactly how to mix and match the clothes you already have in your closet. Check it out here. If you tend to wear the same outfits in the same order Karen has some great tips and ideas for you.
Karen helps you learn your style, shop your closet and love your look! Be sure and check out her blog Style by Karen for more great fashion ideas and tips.
Now for the best part! Karen is sponsoring a giveaway here on the blog. Karen is offering a free 3 hour personal consultation. She will assess clothing needs, determine personal style, analyze body type/colors, and Karen will make suggestions for closet organization. She will work with a long distance winner via phone calls, photos and possibly skype. Also included: Style guide and closet tabs. This is an amazing value!
Just leave a comment below and you will be entered in the drawing. Giveaway closes Friday, January 29th at midnight PST.
I have been a Washingtonian all but 10 years of my life. I was raised in Lynden, WA, a small farming community in the NW corner, just a few miles from the Canadian border. After attending college in Michigan, I landed my first job in Denver, Co where I lived for 6 years and met my husband, Mike. His job in the lumber industry brought us back to the NW and in 1989 we settled in Vancouver WA, which is in the very SW corner of the state. Nestled in between Seattle and Portland OR, we love the small city feel which has been perfect for raising our two boys Ethan and Collin who are now 17 and 14. My previous career as a school teacher and home business owner has paved the way for beginning a new business in 2008. As a personal stylist I enjoy using my creativity in a whole new way. I love teaching women how to look, feel and dress their best.

Oh I need so much help!!!
I would love help with my wardrobe! I have never been very creative when it comes to the closet. I am always donating clothes to GW because I don’t know what to do with them – or just get bored with what I’ve got. I know I spend too much money on clothes (not necessarily quality, but quantity) and need to learn what I should be buying to add to the existing wardrobe. I know when you look good you feel good and everything else seems to fall into place!
I could use some help, plus I live in Denver!!
Please, please help dress me. I’m wearing out the clothes I feel comfortable in and hate, hate shopping. If you’d come to Phoenix, I’d even give you free room and board.
Wow … i could totally use the help
Wow, that’s so great! I could seriously use the help!
I would love the help – even though I live in Utah
I would really love this help! Thanks for the chance~
sounds great!! count me in I could use the help!!
That is such a great idea to go shopping in your closet…I can’t tell you how many items I have in there that I never wear. Some probably still have the tags on them (bought bc on sale, not bc I need/wanted them!). Crazy!!
I live in the NW and could use SOO much help as hooides and jeans aren’t cutting it like they use it – Thanks for the chance
You have no idea how much I need this…..
This Karen needs your Karen’s help!!!! Thanks!!
Karen, wow that is awesome! I absolutely loved your article in Snapshot, just read it. Either way, I think I’m going to be contacting you to help me buy a good pair of jeans!
Awesome Karen!
Karen would cry if she looked in my closet! I put her blog on my favorites list.
She could certainly teach me new things.
I could really use Karen’s help! I am about to embark on a new career and would really like to change my style up. This Friday will be my last day at my current job. I’m leaving my current career to pursue my passion – my photography business! It is a giant leap of faith…one that I am very nervous, but also extremely excited about. My wardrobe is anything but creative and inspiring and I feel it’s time for my look to match my drive and ambition!!
Oh boy, could I ever use your help!!
What a fantastic giveaway! This is something I could really use help with.
I would love help! I have no clue what looks good on me anymore!
What a super give-away!!!!!!! If we don’t win, what does a 3 hour consultation cost?
This is so me! I certainly need style help. I tend to pick a top and a pair of jeans and I am good to go…not sure what else looks good together…
This sounds like sooo much fun!!
I was just talking about doing this!!! I am a bland on bland dresser…I need HELP!
I would love the help too! Crossing my fingers…
This is exactly the type of service I’ve been wanting to find. Thank you
Pick me, Pick me! I’m probably the reason Leigh Anne is doing this give away. I bet she’s tired of seeing me in the same old things
)
I could definitely use a Karen in my life! Thanks for helping us ladies look our best Leigh Anne.
I really need this! What a fun giveaway!!
Great! And what a perfect time of year to be jolted out of a rut. Thanks!
I would love a “full body” makeover. I think it’d make over my discouraged attitude too!
What a wonderful giveaway. This would be a boon to get me better organized with my clothes and hel me refind my style. Jane
What a fun giveaway! I owned and operated one and then two upscale women’s clothing store/boutique/jewelry stores for nearly 30 years and regularly did closet consultations. In fact, wrote a book called The Color Connection: From a Retailer’s Perspective…for consumers, consultants, and retailers. It was during the heyday of color consulting. As a retailer, I had confirmed the connection between personal style and seasonal color harmony and used the knowledge in buying for my store, which made a drastic reduction in necessity of putting clothing on sale. You can almost always spot those inconsistencies when doing a closet consult…those closet mistakes are almost always the right color in the wrong style or the wrong color in the right style.
I’d love aittle help with by very black and blue closet
If anyone needs this, I do!
Wow–what a fun giveaway. I hope I get it!
Help – I NEED it so much.
Karen sounds WONDERFUL!!! What a talent and how nice that she is willing to share it with us. I would love to win this give-away. I NEED this give-away! I’ll be hoping I win this give-away! Thank’s Leigh Anne for introducing us to Karen!
Oh how fun!!!
I think everyone needs to call Karen whether they win or not. But I’m biased since we’re already friends. I’m lining her up to help me when my closet is empty cuz as I lose weight I’m getting rid my clothes. Just need to reach that goal.
Thanks Leigh Anne! And, I keep watching for PW to post the winners…what’s taking so long?
What a great give-away!! Who couldn’t use Karen’s expertise? Thank you for sharing her valuable information. Good luck to all on the drawing
I am so curious and would love to talk with Karen. Please come to Granite Bay and show me how to streamline my own style?
Oh, Karen & Leigh Anne. I believe I just may be the worst when it comes to putting clothes together. I really have no understanding about what to wear with my body type, either. My sister once told me I had the “fashion sense of a turtle.” Maybe that’s why I don’t have any girls – just three sons. I’m from Washington, too! My parents and some siblings live in Castle Rock, Orting, and Longview. Please help me.
It just so happens that at 51 3/4 yrs old, I am feeling dumpy and would like to change my style or look or something. I could use an experts advice! Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love help with my wardrobe. Please pick me
))))
Would love some help with my clothes. I like your blog said, feel like I wear the same stuff all the time!! HELP ME!!!!!!!:)
WHat a fun job she has! I’m always feeling drab (Well, I am pregnant) but even when I’m not–I feel like the frumpiest 27 year old out there.
This would be so cool!
I can use all the help I can get!
Oh My!! Could I ever use the help. With a different job I have no idea what to wear!
I have a little something for you over on my blog. Hope you’re having a great day!
I would love a consultation on my wardrobe! What a fun giveaway!!
Since having my daughter I feel like I lost my sense of style a little bit. I am having baby #2 in a few months and my maternity wardrobe is pretty pathetic. I just don’t know how to pull a look together without feeling huge! I would love to work with Karen.
I so need this! But can you come to Sacramento?!
I am in such dire straits. My clothes are all (a) outdated, (b) B-O-R-I-N-G, (c)shrunk/stretched out/worn out, or (d) all of the above!!! Besides all of that, I think I truly do not know how to dress for my body type. I see people everywhere who look more put-together than I am, and I wonder, “Why can’t I look that good?!”
I would just love this. I have a whole closet of clothes I don’t know what to do with. This is a big area of need for me.
What a great friend and resource. I would love to have some help shopping my closet.
Wow, what I wouldn’t do for a closet makeover, if been on a diet for the past 6mos and need to go through my closet and get rid of clothes that don’t fit and maybe wear some that have been hanging in the back for so long. What a wonderful reward for the next twenty pounds I hope to lose… have already lost 50, so am on my way.
Sign me up! I would love to have Karen’s services.
totally get that bug! but it’s a good one to get
xo
I have 2 kids under the age of 3. Since I stay home with them, my wardrobe has devolved into nothing but old jeans and casual shirts. Please help me be comfortable enough to chase my kids and sophisticated enough to feel like a woman!
At 67, I can say that my body has truly changed its shape since the days when I last did some real shopping. Heading off to a local clothes closet charity with a trunk full of clothes is cathartic, but my closet still holds things I bought 20 years ago that will never fit again 8-( I’m finished raising 4 sons (43 – 28). Time to toss the sweats/jeans/Boy Scout classroom aid wardrobe and change it up a bit! Limited funds! HELP ME PLEASE!
I would love the help. I love to shop sales at my favorite store, Macy’s. The clothes look great at the store but when I bring them home they’re not so great! I don’t know what happens on my way home from the mall. Maybe I just have too many clothes to choose from. I don’t know what my problem is. I stand in front of my clothes and say I don’t have anything to wear! Karen would have a field day in my closet. I could use the help PLEASE!
Help! I need a funtional and comfy wardrobe for a mom, but also stylish and hip. Maybe a few fancier ones for date nights.
Oh, how I love clothes! This would totally be up my ally! Karen, I actually lived in Vancouver, WA for a few years. It is a great place! Hopefully we will get to meet!
I could use some help! I have a hard time with clothes because I never know what would looks good on me. It would be nice to get some time with someone who can coach me on what would look good on me.
This is fascinating! As a 30 something mother of 6 I could really use some help. I’ve gotten so busy taking care of the family that I’ve forgotten how to take care of myself, not to mention how my body has changed and what used to look good on me no longer does.
I think I am beyond HELP. I still have clothes from when my son was a BABY…that is almost 16 years ago!
This sounds great! I’d love a shot at it…
I’m 30 days from having a new born, believe me when I say I’m sick of my current wardrobe and can’t wait to shop my regular closet again, however finding new ways to use what I already have would be fantastic, what a great giveaway!
I would love this! I am stuck in “Mommyville” where comfy’s rule. I need a style that helps me feel good about myself.
I am in need of a lot of help, what a great idea for a giveaway!
Please enter me in the contest. I would love to work with a stylist.
I need the help deperately. I’ve recently lost 60 pounds and gave away practically my whole closet to Goodwill, some stuff still the the tags on because I never could wear it! I never know what looks good and I’m still not sure I see myself correctly. I went from a size 20 to a 10 but still see myself large so I don’t pick the right clothes. Couple that with the fact I’m kinda cheap and I have clothes I bought because they were a good deal that I don’t even know if they look good (hence the tag issue). HELP! And Im right out of Salem, a quick trip LOL I’ve also been a stay at home mom for 24 years and tired of the too casual look. I’m now a Health Coach for TSFL that helped me lose weight and I want to look good to also show others my weight loss.
I could really use some help. Hope I win.
I have loved having Karen’s help. It was such fun and has made shopping so much easier! Now I’m a Karen Style addict!!! She is such fun to go shopping with!!
count me in! I would love your help, I live in WA
You wrote this with me in mind!!! I could hear my name and the end of all your sentences. Thanks!
Me too! Me too! I like the idea of shopping my closet and using accessories to turn clothes into outfits. Thank you.
I would love the help!! But Karen would have to be a brave person to shop my closet…
I could live in my fleece this time of year. Honestly though, my biggest hang up’s are I don’t know how to make the most of accessorizing and I’d love to know what colors look best on me.
I could use a new professional look! I need to find something else besides gym shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers!
I feel like I so badly need a makeover like this! As a young mom, just like most, i end up in my sweats with my hair pulled back in a ponytail most of the time. I would love to change, but just don’t really know where to start. This would be so awsome!
I need help too!! I own one pair of jeans, and probably 45 t-shirts. Something that looks like an adult could be fun…
Love it and oh so green. Reuse and recycle what we have and don’t need. I could use the expert opinion. My sisters are truthful but live too far away.
