Saturday Chores

by Leigh Anne on May 2, 2009

There are lots of things I love about having my college kids home.

One of my top reasons is that there are more people around to help with Saturday chores!  Yeah!

Here are the lists that were on the kitchen counter awaiting everyone as they got up this morning.

Saturdy chores

Of course the Honey Do one is for Jim.

The kid’s list is first come, first serve.  As you can see there was a little negotiating going on as jobs were claimed but then traded around!

Cali got up last so she got stuck cleaning the kid’s bathroom – the biggest job!

While they were all at home working on their job list I snuck off to a plant sale at the Canby Fairgrounds and came home with these beauties…

Saturday chores

These amazing coleus are going to look beautiful in my pots!

Poor Jim will probably only get one thing crossed off his list today – Fix the grill.  After determining the grill was un-fixable he went out and bought a new one – eight hours later it is almost put together!

What was on your To Do list today?

I’m dying at the colors of these plants! How gorgeous! We’re just starting to think spring here in MA, and it’s inspiring to see new things to add to pots and planters. Thanks!

I had to do lists today too but I did everything. My kids are 5, 4, 1, and due in 3 weeks so I long for the days of having some real help. They help sometimes but it is more just a learning lesson for them. Our whole house (besides the master) is clean today. Woohoo for me and kudos to the kids for staying busy all day. Oh and the other thing on the to do list was to make your orange rolls. They are rising now… will be baked before bed… and then reheated for breakfast. We will see how that works.

Beautiful plants!!
I spent most of the day at my mom’s scrapbooking. :-D DH, on the other hand, cut down trees, ran the weedeater, and cut grass. He called me around 3 and said, “hey babe, all the work is done, you can come home now.” I wasn’t avoiding work! Giggle

I am laughing because we do the same thing with the first come first serve, only we do it every other week.

I use a washable marker and write on our cream color formica. I keep telling myself that I can not buy my most coveted granite because I would not be able to write out the chores every week on it.

With Katie home this weekend, we accomplished so much. It’s amazing how much of a hard working unifier she is. Does that make sense?

That’s so funny! I had almost the same exact chore list for my two girls today. They are 7 & 11 and are learning to help me out around the house. Quite often I have to “supervise”, but we try to make it fun and have races. At least the house gets “somewhat” clean. I’m not complaining, I’ll gladly take the help!
