Today I am sharing my favorite Fall beverage and something else to put that yummy caramel sauce on. I always know it is Fall when Starbucks starts serving their Pumpkin Spice Steamer. It gets a little expensive going to Starbucks on a regular basis so I decided I needed to figure out how to make my own at home. It wasn’t hard.
I made a trip to Cash & Carry and picked up a bottle of this….
It doesn’t taste exactly the same but close enough!
Then you need some milk, I’m a 2% girl. And a pretty cup of course!
I heat my milk up in the microwave and then I use my little frother thingy. I picked it up at Cost Plus World Market but I have seen them at kitchen shops. It swirls and whirls the milk and adds foam to it. Just like Starbucks.
My frother is battery operated.
Then the crowning glory. Some whip cream and caramel sauce!
Starbucks doesn’t put caramel sauce on theirs – that is my special touch when I am feeling like something extra special.
So no real recipe here – just pumpkin spice syrup, milk, whip cream and a little caramel sauce. Welcome to Fall!

MMMMMMM That looks delicious. Can you make it with skim milk too?

I have made it with skim and it’s great – just not quite as creamy.
How much of the pumpkin syrup and how much milk for one mug?
Good question Caryn – It really depends on how sweet you like it. I usually put about 1 1/2 – 2 Tbsp of syrup into a cup of milk – the cup probably holds about 1 1/2 cups of milk? You can do it to taste.
This thrifty girl makes homemade Pumpkin Spice Syrup. Easy as can be and so nice to have on hand for a little afternoon treat. Just google “pumpkin spice syrup recipe” and you’ll find a bunch.
Oh YUM! I have been craving Starbucks, its the only thing that soothes my morning sickness. I will definitely have the hubby pick up some syrup for me next time he goes to the store
Hope it helps! Feel better soon!
Here’s a tip from a coffee shop owner and crazy pumpkin addict
The pumpkin sauce tastes WAY better than the pumpkin syrup and will get you closer to the Starbucks taste. It’s more expensive (about $15), but it comes in a giant bottle that will last you all fall and winter. You could split it with a friend too. Cash & Carry has it in the same aisle as the syrups. Here’s a pic so you know what you’re looking for if you decide to try it

Happy fall!
Thanks for the tip – I am headed to Cash & Carry to get some!
My husband would LOVE this. I’m getting him a handheld Aerolatte frother for his birthday thanks to this post.
