Pretty Things at the Barn House

Today is my second post about pretty.

I love it when I walk into a store, usually a small boutique, and it takes my breath away.  Each way I turn there is pretty, pretty, pretty.

This weekend my girls and I had that experience except it was an outdoor boutique – actually a flea market.  My girls and I left the house at 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning.  Now that is quite a sacrifice for two teenage girls but they knew it was worth it.

We arrived at the Barn House up in BattleGround, Washington a little after 8:00 a.m. – the flea market had just opened!

It was one pretty thing after another.  First of all it was a pretty day – a beautiful day!

The first thing that caught my eye was the pretty food!  It was no surprise as there were cupcakes and I have my cupcake radar out these days!

Not only were the cupcakes pretty but the whole food area was pretty!  Almost too pretty to eat!!

After I stopped drooling over all the food we went to check out the vendors.  Each vendor had their own tented area.  Their set ups were a work of art!  One of my favorite vendors is Sparrow.

Yes, that is a bike up there!

Every booth was pretty.  So pretty in fact that you almost hated to buy anything because you didn’t want to disrupt the prettiness of it all!  But we didn’t let that stop us.

Everywhere we turned – more pretty things!

I think I actually learned to type on a typewriter like this one!

Wouldn’t these chairs look wonderful in my garden?  Unfortunately they didn’t come home with me.

The Barn House sales are held about 4 times a year – the July sale being their biggest and best.

Their next event is August 15th and I plan on being there!  If you are in the Portland/Vancouver area you should check it out!  Let me know if you go, maybe we can meet up there!

Back to the pretty.  I loved this banner!Barn HOuse (8)

We did manage to find something fun and pretty to bring home with us – vintage crinolines for the girls!  Won’t they have fun creating pretty outfits with these!

I do have one regret though.  Have you ever seen something and totally fallen in love with it?  Then you talk yourself out of it because you really have no idea what you would do with it?  I did that this weekend – I talked myself out of something and now I so regret it.

I can’t stop thinking about it.  I still have no idea what I would do with it but I know it would make me happy every time I looked at it…..sometimes you have to have things just because they are pretty.

    @Michelle Wilkes:

I don’t even know what to call it it. It was a little wire cart on wheels like little old grandma’s take to the grocery store with them but they had made a darling fabric liner for it with a ruffle on top out of vintage fabric and it was so cute!! I could see myself taking it to the Farmer’s Market and filling it with fresh produce!!

That photo of the cupcakes actually made my mouth water. Mmmm, yummy goodness!! Thank you for sharing. I must continue walking around your blog to work off those virtual calories. :) This was truly a pretty post and I LOVE Sparrow’s stand. Do they set that up everytime???

I love those crinolines. I had crinolines in my dress up box when I was little–back then, stores like Value Village had all sorts of fun vintage stuff like that. I wish my mom had held onto that stuff so that my daughter could have neat vintage dressup stuff instead of all this princess stuff.

I did buy her a pettiskirt (ouch on the price!) because of all of my memories of puffy crinolines. :)

Thank you for the great comment on my food booth!! I hope you had a chance to have a cupcake!

The BH boys always do a fabulous job. Sparrow is a vendor that is usually at all their events as well as Queen of Tarte (Cindy). You must come to the Halloween & Christmas shows, actually ALL of them is something not to be missed!

I love visiting your website and all the scrumptious recipes. Imagine my suprise when I visited today and you mentioned the “Barn House” and that your favorite vendor is Sparrow. She is my niece and she is truly amazing and talented and just plain sweet, through & through.

leigh anne hello! i almost lost you! i looked everywhere for the comment you left on my blog so i could come over to see you at yours and i just could not find it..until today. i must say you took great photos of the sale. i love what you selected to focus on, great colors and everything in focus. your girls are adorable and i did get a picture of them too, like yours. i would love to get pictures of them when they create outfits using those wonderful frilly garments!

you know as far as lenses go i seem to have a favorite for awhile and then i move to something else and that’s my favorite. i do try to get the best lens i can afford because it does make a difference in the end results. that said though i have been using a rather inexpensive 50mm macro lens that i have come to love and carry everywhere! i like to experiment and renting is a good way to try lenses an have some fun. it was nice to meet you if only for a moment. see you again at another sale i hope… Willows nest in 2 weeks!
