The 10th is here! The best day of the month! With Christmas coming (HOORAY!!!), and trees sure to go up in just a couple of weeks, we were excited this month for the theme to be Handmade Ornaments.
There are so many fun & creative ornaments to choose from– felt, glitter, vintage goodness, bright & cheery, traditional, child-oriented, and more! You’re sure to find one that fits your tree theme–or a new theme you want to start! We’d love for you to pin the collage below, check out my Pottery Barn Knock Off Glitter Letter Ornament and then go see all of the other fabulous projects created by some of my blogger besties.
I am a bit of a themed Christmas tree person. In my family room I have a Joy themed tree. I have lots of Joy ornaments on it.
When I saw the pretty German glitter monogram ornaments at Pottery Barn this year I thought they would be perfect for spelling out Joy on my Christmas tree. I also decided that I could make them for a lot cheaper!
I purchased some German Glass Glitter off of Etsy. You purchase it by the ounce. Once ounce did about 7 letters. I used my Silhouette to cut out my letter shapes using the font BEBAS but you could also use stencils that you can pick up at the craft store.
I traced my letters on to some thin cardboard I had left over from something. It is heavier than posterboard.
I spray painted the letters silver so that I wouldn’t have to worry about the brown cardboard showing through the glitter.
Use a foam brush to apply a nice layer of glue. I used Alene’s Tacky Glue. Then sprinkle with glitter.
You can create your favorite holiday words or you can use the initials of your family members.
They are fun to give as an ornament or use them as a gift tag too.
