Getting Crafty -Flowered Head Bands

by Leigh Anne on January 12, 2009

Over the holiday break my girls and I spent a little female bonding time crafting.  I have always loved using my hands to create something - whether it be with fabric,  yarn, paper, photos or even food.

One of my favorite things to make are gifts for others.  Remember those cute little journals  I made last summer?

The girls and I have always enjoyed making the gifts they give to their friends for Christmas and their birthdays.  Over the next few weeks I will share with you some of the cute gifts my girls and I crafted over the holidays.

The first one is these darling headbands.  I have been on a bit of a headband kick lately.  First there were those darling reversible headbands I made for the girl’s in my church class. Then I saw some darling ribbon covered headbands over at Design Mom.  I knew my girls would love them and so would their friends!

They are darling and so easy to make.  Design Mom has a easy to follow tutorial here.

I bought the ribbon and flower supplies at Michael’s and found the headbands at Walgreen’s.

While the girls were home for the holidays they did a fun photo shoot with their friend Olivia who is an amazing photographer for a seventeen year old!  The girls wore their headbands for the photo shoot – aren’t they cute!

You can see more photos of them with their headbands on our family blog

I emailed Design Mom that my girls and I had fun making her cute headbands and sent her the link to the photos.  She loved them and asked if she could put them on her blog.  My girl’s are famous – they are on Design Mom!  Check them out!!  You will have to scroll down a few posts.

Tessa has worn her headband to school several times and gotten lots of compliments.  We’ve given them as gifts to some of the neighbor girls for their birthdays and they love them too!
More getting crafty ideas to come!

They sure turned out pretty–and I saw that Gabrielle posted them. I’ve been meaning to make some myself and you’ve inspired.

Those are so pretty, I need to get crafty since I have two girls of my own! Jacky would love these! I didn’t even notice the head bands on your girls pictures, because the girls are so pretty.

too cute. Do you think a 35 year old mom of 2 boys could get away with wearing one??

Veggiemomof2 – thanks for the fun award. I appreciate it.

Cariann – I think a 35 year old mom of 2 boys can do whatever she wants and if one of those things is wear a flowered headband – go for it!!!

Okay.. this is too weird.. I have been reading your blog for awhile now.. maybe once a week.. I love getting all caught up.. and I have made your recipes before too!!

Well, today I was on a search for a design blog.. and I somehow end up on Design Mom’s site,(I think I got there from a tatertots and jello blog)

There I see the girls.. and think to myself.. these girls look familiar, but that can’t be! Design mom is in NY!! Then I actually read the post, to see in fact they are your girls!!

I feel like twilight zone music should be playing in the background right now!!

Anyway.. the headbands are adorable, and the photography was awesome.

This is in response to the headbands and all your amazing receipes.LOve the headbands and the girls in them!
I copy all your receipes that I love into my Word program. Once I try them and love them,I print them out and laminate them and put them in a binder. If I want to give someone a copy of a receipe I can either print it off or email them because it is stored. OR…more then likely I will send them your web address!
Thanks for all your tips.
