Family Reunion T-Shirts

Several of you have emailed about our family reunion t-shirts.

Our t-shirts were designed by my nephew Micah. Isn’t he a cutie?  He just graduated from high school.

Not only is he a cutie he is also a talented artist.

The front of the t-shirt had the word Wilkes on it. The word was made up of the names of everyone in the family – 77 of us in total. It was like a big word search!

Look close and you will see everyone’s name. Isn’t Ellie, the newest member of the Wilkes family, a cutie too?!

Micah hand drew the whole thing. He’s got great handwriting.

The back of the shirt said Manzanita 2010. The date and location of the reunion.

Each family got to pick their own color. Grandma and Grandpa had navy.

and each of the siblings familys had a different color. Here is Jim, his parents and all his siblings.

As you can see our family was green. I think we got the best color – I loved it. The biggest challenge with the colors was finding a shirt color that was available in all sizes – infant through adult. Not all colors are. For our family that wasn’t as big of a deal as we didn’t need any children sizes.

I love this photo – Grandma and Grandpa and all their grandchildren and great grandchildren!

And the whole family!

My niece Emily spearheaded the whole project and had the shirts printed locally.
If you’ve had a family reunion, what are some of the things you have done to celebrate and create unity?

You have got to have one of the best looking families, on both sides, that I have ever seen! Those boys and girls must be very popular! But they also seem to be very good kids from everything you talk about. Loved the shirts even before I knew they were done by hand. Love them more now! I also love the look of the photo with everyone in their color groupings.

A great idea for a family reunion! What fun! I did something similar, though not as detailed when my four kids were kidlets…maybe 20 years ago… For the family reunion I had t-shirts printed with the reunion name on the front and on the back, I put my Dad’s name at the top in large letters, my name under it in smaller letters, and each of my kid’s name on his/her shirt under my name in smaller letters. That way, at the family reunion, everyone knew what their lineage was! Got lots of fun compliments on those Ts. :-D
