Over the Thanksgiving break we had a family photo taken.
Having a family photo taken is a lot of work! Picking out what everyone is going to wear and making sure it all works together, making sure everyone has a good haircut, finding a time when everyone is available, including the photographer, and then in our case this year – dealing with the weather. A dense fog decided to move in the morning we were to have our outdoor picture taken. Fortunately our great photographer found a pocket of sunshine!

For you mothers of young children who think having a family picture taken will get easier when they get older – think again! I use to bribe my boys with the promise of Happy Meals if they smiled good for the picture – now I just threaten!
But I have to admit that our family photo experience this year was one of our easier ones. I only had to threaten Clark not to make silly faces a few times!

Your family is beautiful. I just found your blog a couple of days ago and have enjoyed reading through it! You are my new inspiration that I can survive 4 children! Our surprise #4 will be a year old Monday and I have had a tough time adjusting. When I see your beautiful family, it gives me hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Give the photographer kudos from me – great job! You can’t pose that one and get a better result! I know how hard it is to get EVERYONE smiling with eyes open at the same time. I had three girls and two boys…and no Photoshop. In a recent family photo at my 75th birthday, my husband replaced the head of one daughter from a duplicate photo taken at the same time – same pose, but a better picture of her. He had the Photo Shopped photo put on coffee mugs for Mothers’ Day. The miracle of science!
I love them all, but perhaps my favorite photo of all is the one of the brothers kissing the sisters. It’s priceless!
Well dang. You just shattered my hopes about pictures getting easier. My last photoshoot had to have some serious editing to get the snot/tears off my baby’s face, because it’s just so darn traumatic to have someone snap a photo. Yours turned out cute, even if it did take some threats to get them

These pictures are priceless. What a beautiful family you have! You can just see how much love there is between everyone in each picture! Love the ones of the boys kissing the girls. They will treasure that picture forever! Especially when they have been married 25 years!
