I have spent the last few days at the Happiest Place on Earth – yes, I went to Disneyland!
I really went to California to attend my companies Regional Showcase which just happened to be held right across the street from Disneyland.
I went down early to spend a day at the Magic Kingdom with my friend and team member Karyn. I think this was the first time I had been to Disneyland without kids or husband. It was really a fun experience to spend the day at Disneyland with girlfriends!
We did whatever we wanted to do when we wanted to do it. We hit all the big rides of course – the Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain, Star Tours and quite a few others.
We even rode the carousel!
One thing that never ceases to amaze me about Disneyland is the attention to detail. They think of everything. They are definitely the kings and queens of marketing and branding.
We stayed the first two nights at the Disneyland Hotel. Even our shampoo bottles had Mickey ears!
And then there was the light fixture in the bathroom!
When I got into bed the first night there was Tinkerbell on my ceiling! I was too tired to get out of bed to take a picture!
It’s no surprise but one of my favorite things to check out in the park are the flowers. I absolutely loved the flowers on the light posts! Where can I get some of those containers!
And of course I had to check out the cupcakes!
I totally fell in love with the caramel apples – aren’t they adorable!!!
I never knew there could be so many different mouse shaped things!
And Disney didn’t miss a beat when it came to the detail and presentation of their food either. I Googled to find out what the best food in Disneyland was. The top item was the Mickey shaped pretzels. Another item on the list was the skewers at the Bengal BBQ in Adventureland along with the Bengal Claw Breadsticks. This amusement park food even came with a garnish!
You can learn a lot from Disney when it comes to developing a good idea and carrying it out. The attention to detail in everything they do is amazing all the way down, or should I say up, to the Mickey shaped fireworks we watched one evening.
There is a reason why Disney is the “Happiest Place on Earth” – a truly magical place. It’s all in the details.
So what is your favorite ride at Disney?

I just returned home from an extended vacation, but now I want to go to Disneyland! It is really a magical place.
My favorite ride is Pirates of the Carribean, but is there really a bad ride?
I LOVE Disneyland…. my favorite ride is the Casey Jones train ride. Those cupcakes are the best and so is the carmel apple (sooo cute!). I like to shop at Downtown Disney, that place is great. I used to live in LA, so as a child I was there all the time. We have been back several times as an adult, you can never have too much Minnie & Mickey. My daughter is gong to honeymoon there too!!
Your pics are great, even the shampoo bottles !!!
Thank you for your photos, we usually go to Disney World each year but we haven’t been able to go this year (due to family illness and job problems). Seeing your photos reminded me of all the happy times we have had there as a family (bringing a tiny tear to my eye. ps I love their details too
I am not sure about rides anymore . . . it used to be Alice In Wonderland, not sure why though. I think these days it is the Haunted Mansion. The cupcakes are darling, but I think yours posted previously probably “take the cake”. I hope to make the lime cupcakes very soon. We went to Disney World in February. It was great, but can’t wait to get back to Disneyland in June!
So grateful you got to have some fun, relaxing time after all the marathon weeks at your home. My favorite all time ride has to be “It’s a Small World.” I love to see the faces of the children when we come around another bend in the river. I do agree that your cupcakes look even better than the Disneyland ones.
I used to work for the Disney Channel in Burbank, CA. My brother and I would go to Disneyland every chance we got! My favorite ride was Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and I was very sad when they closed it. I think now it’s a toss up between Pirates of the Carribean and the Matterhorn
Wasn’t Disney fun? It was great to cross paths about 4 or 5 times that day! Now “back to Oregon” where it’s too hot.
My favorite ride is definitely the California Screamer. All the rush of the big roller coaster, but no strain on my neck- it really doesn’t like the Matterhorn unless there is a chiropractor at the end!
I had a lot of fun in California Adventure last time I was there – I think it was the “Screamer” roller coaster – too fun!
But the best time I have ever spent at Disneyland in the 10 or so times I have been was spending the day with a girlfriend at Christmas time. Perfect weather, hardly anyone in the park (all things considering, of course) & the decorations – oh man – so cute, so Christmas-y, so fun!! Glad you had a good time!
Leigh Anne,
How fun to see that you were in my home territory! I was at Disneyland 10 days ago for my birthday (you get in free, you know). You saw lots of details that I missed….where were those yummy cupcakes?
One of my favorite places to get a snack is the Bengal BBQ that you featured! I get the chicken with sweet and sour sauce and then order a side of the hot sauce for judicial dipping. For heartier meals we like the Mexican cafe or the chicken dinner om Main street.
My roller coaster days are behind me (I get vertigo)so I enjoy the Snow White ride, the train and the monorail.
At DCA we all love Soaring over California.
We always love to take a break and enjoy the lobby at the Grand Californian Hotel. We might find live piano music or story telling in front of the large fireplace.
Too fun!! $8 seems like a lot for a caramel apple (they look chocolate – maybe it’s just dark caramel), but you can see the hand detail that someone did to make them just right! Plus the bonus marshmallow ears are too yummy! Walt was definitely brilliant.
I thought I remembered a runaway train ride, but that may be in Florida… we’re talking about taking the boys to Disneyland next summer. I can’t wait!!!!!!!!
I like how you worked cupcakes in . . . again!
We were just at Disneyland a few weeks ago. At Disneyland, I think our favorite was Space Mountain . . . but at California Adventure we loved California Screamin . . . and the Tower of Terror was awesome!!
My boys loved the trip, but I must admit that I had a lot of fun as well!!!!
