Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce

This apple cake with caramel sauce is the perfect fall dessert – it tastes like fall.

Apple Cake with Caramel Cake

This recipe came from a family cookbook my daughter put together several years ago. It was a compilation of the Best Family’s favorite recipes.

The recipe came from my mom and is one she made regularly for her empty nester family home evening group.  I could join that group now!

A nice warm apple cake.

Now take that nice warm apple cake and cover it in caramel sauce and you have heaven. So there is just not enough caramel sauce on this piece of cake – what was I thinking!!

Now if you are a nut lover you can take it one step further and add some chopped pecans (and some more caramel sauce)!

Yum, yum.  Apples and caramel sauce.  So good.

Welcome Fall.  I am glad you are here.

This looks so good! I usually cheat and use Nana’s Apple Cake from Tastefully Simple, but this looks so easy I might have to try it! Thanks for sharing!

Leigh Anne, I made this for my quilt group tonight and it got raves, not just a “..this is yummy” but there were serious moans and unearthly rapture happening tonight over this cake. It will be a major fall “go to” dessert for me. Thanks!

Because I doubled the recipe, I didn’t have as many nuts on hand as I had hoped (too lazy to run to the store) but I went ahead and added the nuts I did have. To add a little more texture to replace the missing nuts I added about 1/3 of a cup of Heath’s English Toffee Bits. It was a lovely addition!

I just served this cake to my covenant group this afternoon and they raved about it. One person insisted on having the recipe to take home with her. When they came into the house, they commented on how good it smelled. It’s a keeper for sure.
