Caramel Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie

Caramel Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Caramel Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie combines all the best cookie flavors – oatmeal, chocolate and caramel. All rolled into one. Who doesn’t love a good oatmeal cookie. Especially one that has a little extra something added in. I like a little crunch and texture to my food so I decided to try adding in some Rice Krispy cereal to my oatmeal cookie. Not bad but it was missing a little something. I had a bag of these little babies in my pantry so I thought I’d throw a cup or [Continue Reading…]

Sunday Pot Roast

Sunday Pot Roast

Growing up, there was always some type of roast for Sunday dinner.  It was pretty standard fare for both my husband and I. We are not big red meat eaters at our house but sometimes a nice, tender pot roast is just what you need. We go to church for three hours each Sunday (yes, you read that right – 3 hours).  My Sunday pot roast cooks for exactly three hours so it is the perfect Sunday dinner. I pop it in as we leave and it is ready to [Continue Reading…]

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins are the perfect solution to ripe bananas

These banana chocolate chip muffins are the perfect solution to ripe bananas. Today’s muffin recipe is due to having two overly ripe bananas on my counter. I just wasn’t in the mood for banana bread, although I have an amazing banana bread recipe. But a banana muffin sounded pretty good. I added in some mini chocolate chips and I had an amazing muffin. I tweeked my basic muffin recipe and used a combination of oil and sour cream for the liquid.  (that’s also what makes my banana bread recipe so [Continue Reading…]

Utah Visit – To Thine Own Self Be True

to thine own self

I am headed to Utah this week to see the 3 Utah kids.  I can’t wait! One of the main reasons for my visit is to see Cali perform in a show at BYU. The show is entitled To Thine Own Self Be True: Being Female at BYU.  The show is created from scratch by BYU students about their experiences as women at BYU. The show runs for about 1 hour and is  written and directed by students.  They explore the challenges and opportunities for women at BYU.   They will [Continue Reading…]

How to Make Your Own Cookie Bouquet

cookie bouquet

Note:  I have updated my earlier sugar cookie cut out post with a second frosting recipe.  There is a glaze recipe for when I want the cookies to have a dry, glossy finish and although the glaze tastes good I prefer my traditional butter  frosting recipe when they are strictly for eating and not so much for looks or when they don’t need to be wrapped up and you are worried about the frosting getting smooshed. I am sure you have seen those cute cookie  bouquets you can custom order–ever [Continue Reading…]

Sugar Cookie Cut Outs

Guys and Dolls

I am definitely a sucker for a good sugar cookie.  Most of the time I like to use My Favorite Sugar Cookie recipe because it is quick and easy to make.  No rolling or cutting out. But there are times when you must have a sugar cookie cut out, meaning a sugar cookie you cut out with a cookie cutter.  Christmas is usually one of those times. Growing up I was always in charge of making the Christmas wreath shaped sugar cookies. It’s not Christmas but several weeks ago I [Continue Reading…]

Orange Creamsicle Muffins

Orange Creamsicle Muffins are delicious and the orange glaze is amazing!

So you may remember my slight obsession with orange creamsicle flavor.  You can find it here with my orange creamsicle scones, Orange creamsicle cookies, orange rolls and my favorite orange cake. I decided that the list wouldn’t be complete without an orange creamsicle muffin. I played around with my basic muffin recipe a bit and came up with what I think is a pretty amazing orange creamsicle version.  I usually limit myself to one muffin on Muffin Monday but these were so good I ate two (O.K., it was really [Continue Reading…]

Herbed Rice

Herbed Rice

Here is the recipe for the Herbed Rice I served with the Chicken Marsala. I love it because it is such a versatile recipe – you can change up the flavor just by changing the herb combination you use. I am a non-potato eating woman married to a man from Idaho. Believe it or not! As a result, we eat a lot of rice at our house. I love rice and have discovered lots of fun and flavorful ways to prepare it so it never gets boring. Today’s recipe is [Continue Reading…]

Chicken Marsala

Chicken Marsala

Chicken Marsala is easy to prepare and looks and tastes fancy. This last weekend my in laws came to visit and see Tessa perform in Hairspray. Since they don’t visit very often I always want to make sure that things are nice while they are here. Despite the craziness of everything that was going on last weekend I wanted to fix a nice Sunday dinner. I also had to make sure I fixed something Cali (who was home for the weekend too) could eat. That meant no dairy and no [Continue Reading…]
