Lily & Thistle: MiniMe Paper Doll Giveaway

paper doll

I think my love of clothes and fashion first began with paper dolls. I loved playing with paper dolls as a little girl and I still have some of those paper dolls which I have handed down to my girls. I would spend hours dressing them up and creating houses for them. Not too long ago, I was contacted by Hannah the creator of Lily & Thistle: MiniMe Paper Dolls and I fell in love.  I know you will too. Hannah, the mother of three little girls, creates custom paper [Continue Reading...]

Jam Filled Muffins}Muffin Monday

jam filled

So I am a little sleep deprived from our long drive home from Utah so this is going to be a short post. I love surprises, at least most of the time.  At least when they don’t include snow and ice covered roads. It is fun to bite into something yummy and find something even yummier inside. Today’s muffins fit that description.  A yummy spice flavored muffin filled with a surprise – raspberry jam.  You could use any flavor jam you like, I just happen to have some homemade raspberry [Continue Reading...]

Finding 50}Days 323-329

idaho

My pretty pictures have a common theme this week – snow. We had snow in Portland on Tuesday and then I spent over 40 hours this week driving through snow and ice to and home from Idaho and Utah.  It was a very long drive.  One I am very grateful is over.  It was physically and emotionally exhausting.  But I tried hard to have a gratitude attitude about the whole thing and am just so thankful to be home in my warm house, in my flannel pj’s and not in [Continue Reading...]

Cranberry Cheesecake Bars

cranberry

This recipe is a little late for Thanksgiving this year but it is just in time for the upcoming holiday baking season. We are kicking off with a good one.  Cranberry Cheesecake Bars will make a great addition to any holiday party or holiday cookie plate you may be putting together in December.  They are yummy! This recipe is a combination of two of my favorite bar cookie recipes.  The cream cheese layer from my lemon cheesecake bars and the crust and topping from the yummy sour cream apple bars. [Continue Reading...]

A Gratitude Attitude

cars

I have to say I consider myself a pretty grateful person.  I strive to look for the pretty and delicious in life and be grateful for the things I have. The last few days have  put my gratitude attitude to the test. As we lay safe and sound in a nice warm bed last night my husband turned to me and said,  “Despite everything that has happened in the last two days we have a lot to be grateful for.”  Although I really didn’t want to admit it, I wanted [Continue Reading...]

Anthropologie Inspired Sweater Skirt

skirt

So I have a bit of a love affair.  I am in love with everything about Anthropologie – their clothes, their accessories, kitchen items and their window displays.  It is a store full of pretty! Unfortunately Anthropologie’s regular price tags are a little too much for my budget (thank goodness for the sale room!!) So today I want to show you a skirt that looks like it came straight out of Anthropologie. Isn’t it cute.  But guess what?  It didn’t come from Anthropologie and it didn’t have an Anthropologie price [Continue Reading...]

Pumpkin Dip

Pumpkin Dip

One of my favorite things to do with apples is to dip them into some kind of yumminess. I especially love to dip my apples into this yummy apple dip. So good! You must try it. Well I found another yummy combination – pumpkin and apples. At my recent Mummies Night Out Party I served my favorite apple dip but I also served today’s recipe for pumpkin dip. The caramel dip is much sweater than the pumpkin dip so it was nice to have the balance and maybe, just maybe [Continue Reading...]

This week’s giveaway is sponsored by my friend Nancy Conway who is a consultant with Stella & Dot, a direct sales jewelry company. Stella & Dot has a line of great jewelry, much of it “Anthropologie inspired”  Nancy recently flew to Portland and I hosted a party for her at my house and as a result received quite a few pieces of free jewelry. Here’s what Nancy has to say about Stella & Dot: I love Stella and Dot jewelry and being a S&D Stylist!  Even though I am relatively [Continue Reading...]

Accessory Organization

organization

Several years ago I had a friend tell me that accessories were the “bow on the package.”  They were the finishing touch to every outfit. I had never been much of an accessorizer.  I never wore earrings (my pierced ears had long closed up.) I had my go to necklace that went with everything and I wore it all the time.  In fact I never took it off.  The only other jewelry I wore was my wedding ring. After talking with her I decided that I wanted a prettier bow [Continue Reading...]
