Teriyaki Hamburgers and Roasted Potato Wedges

Teriyaki hamburgers

We actually had a taste of summer here in Portland last week – a couple of 80 degree days!   I knew it wouldn’t last so we had to take advantage! It was perfect BBQ weather!  Nothing tastes better than a home grilled hamburger. Especially  Teriyaki Hamburgers. One of our favorite ways to fix hamburgers is a recipe I found in Southern Living’s Easy Weeknight Favorites.  A great cookbook full of quick and easy dinner ideas.  Their recipe for Hamburgers Teriyaki is quick and yummy. I jazzed the hamburger up a [Continue Reading...]

Cake Pop Surprise

Just a quick post today while I recover from my 1,600 mile road trip. We just returned from our drive to and from Utah for Logan’s college graduation. We brought back two of the college students home with us – yeah! I’ll share a little about graduation tomorrow after I get a little sleep and get the two college students moved back in! I wanted to share with you a darling little gift I found waiting for me last week after I was gone for the weekend with girlfriends. My [Continue Reading...]

Orange Rolls

No lemon recipe today! I am keeping it in the citrus family though and we are just moving over to oranges! Today’s recipe is a Wilkes Family Favorite. No holiday dinner (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas) would be complete without these. In fact, no dinner that Grandma comes to is complete without them – Orange Rolls. This is my mother’s orange roll recipe and she is the designated orange roll maker in our family except when she’s not spending the holiday with us and then I get the job. My parents spent [Continue Reading...]

Oatmeal Lemon Cookies

So I thought I was about lemoned out and had shared enough lemon recipes with you but then the Oregonian went and put a recipe for Oatmeal Lemon Cookies in the FoodDay section last week and I knew I had to try it! I had a group of women from church coming over one evening last week to make these fun headbands and these cute headbands and I figured it was the perfect opportunity to give the cookies a try. Oatmeal and lemon is not a combination I usually put [Continue Reading...]

Springtime in the Garden

Today you are going to get a tour of my garden. There’s not a lot blooming right now but there are some definite signs of Spring especially along the woodland path. Lots of daffodils… and the Hellebores are still blooming…. and then these pretty little delicate blue flowers. I can’t remember what they are – does anyone know? and the wood violets are so pretty…. and my personal favorite – the Euphorbia wulfenii. Isn’t the green color gorgeous!! and then there are signs of things to come… I can’t wait [Continue Reading...]

Lemon Chicken

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to take dinner into a family at church whose mother had had surgery.  Usually I take one of my tried and true classics. Don’t you have a few Go To recipes you use when you take dinner to someone? Well, this time I decided to be a bit adventurous and try a new recipe that Lori sent me for my Lovely Lemon Giveaway. I couldn’t resist giving this recipe a try since it used one of my favorite things – lemon curd! I was a [Continue Reading...]

Lemon Cake Balls

lemon cake balls

As an avid reader of Pioneer Woman and Bakerella I have been seeing a lot about cake balls lately.  Even my friend Sherra was telling me about them. So when I had to take dessert to my Crafty Ladies night I decided I needed to give them a try.  Cake balls can be made with any flavor of cake mix so guess which flavor I used?   You guessed it – lemon!  Pioneer Woman made some fun Halloween ones using Red Velvet cake.  Bakerella made the cutest little Easter cake pops I have ever [Continue Reading...]

Lemon Bread

I have worked my way through my Costco bag of lemons.  As much as I love lemons I think I am getting a little lemoned out.  Usually I will choose lemon over chocolate any day but today I was actually craving a little chocolate! Today’s lemon recipe was submitted by my friend Meg.  Meg is not only a great cook but she is an amazing photographer. She is the one who took those great pictures of my kitchen!  You can see more of her beautiful work over at her photography blog. [Continue Reading...]
